November 11, 2008 tangled necklaces

Have you ever pulled out a necklace of fine gold from your jewelry box only to find that several tight knots have formed or that it has merged with another chain? Because of the delicate chain, the effort of trying to unravel these knots so You can wear the necklace, is frought with frustration. It is a task of patience, nimble fingers and a true desire to wear the item. Trying to find the strand of gleaming gold to loosen so the process might begin is tedious and more often than not, the project and hopes of wearing the necklace end with a groan and a irreverant toss back to the depths of the jewely box.

Isnt truth a bit like those tightly knotted strands?

I read how the Gay activists want to start a movement, a boycott on tourism in Utah to punish the hate mongering Mormons who worked diligently to preserve the sancity of marriage and passed Proposal 8 in California. Isn't that a knot? Have any taken the time to unravel that knot? Do Mormons really hate gays? was that why millions of dollars and countless hours were given to the effort to preserve Marriage as God intended it between a man and woman? All because Mormons hate gays? Mormons generally speaking, dont hate gays though I allow individuals might have strong feelings. Mormons dont hate gays, Mormons do however, cherish the ablility to worship, live and act in accordance to their Christian beliefs. They do not want to be relegated to accepting a lifestyle and it's consquences because of lawsuits, threats to job security nad other issues. Civil Unions would be an option to secure the rights of unions between gays.

So truth?
Why? Why is it ok for the gay community to work and advance the cause of what they believe but not Christians? I mean, I havent heard of any Christian groups formally gathering support to boycott Gay parades, San Francisco, Rainbows. And yet, as Christians fight for what they believe, the truth is tangled in rhetoric, knotted in reverse perscution and the effort, it seems, to find the strand to unravel the knots is lost in the exhaustion of explaination.

The truth?

I will sit and with a magnifing glass to look through, I will untangle those knots..I will have patience, persistance and a nimble mind because I want to wear that necklace! I want to wear the necklace of truth! There is God's truth, a unbroken strand of treasured gold, then there is the knotted truth of those who want what they will never ever have because the simple truth is: wickedness will never be happiness. Political correctness and bullying are no substitutes for Truth.
I will wear the necklace and be sure to hang it up when I'm done so the possibility of knots will be eliminated. Maybe we all should do that .. stop throwing the necklace in with everything else.. a handful of tangled chains so be sorted out at great time and effort later. Let us hang on the necklace.. lets us hold on to the truths that have been since Premortal life let those truths dangle from that little hook that keeps our delicate chains free from entanglement.
